Ms Chan passes the SQE in May 2026 and takes out a 2-year salesperson's licence. Under Phase I of the EAA's Mandatory CPD Scheme, how many CPD points must she earn in that licence period?
Answer: 8 points. Why not the others: - None: She passed after 1 Jan 2025, so Phase I applies. - 4 points: That is for a 1-year licence. - 24 points: Not the Phase I requirement; the old voluntary target was 12 points a year. Rule: Phase I of the Mandatory CPD Scheme (from 1 Jan 2025) applies to individuals licensed on a qualifying exam passed after 1 Jan 2025: 4 points per 1-year licence or 8 per 2-year licence, and failure can affect renewal. Relying on older material that says CPD is voluntary.
