A client wants to check whether salesperson Mr Lam is really licensed. What can she do?
Answer: Search the EAA's public register of licensees. Why not the others: - The Police: They do not keep licensing records. - The register is confidential: It is open to public inspection. - The Land Registry: It records property, not licensees. Rule: The EAA keeps a register of licensees, with particulars such as licence number and validity, which the public may inspect (including the online licence list). Source: Estate Agents Ordinance (Cap. 511), section 13; EAA licence list, eaa.org.hk; as at Oct 2026
Not knowing the register is public.
